The collar reduces the strength of a rooster’s crow by gently restricting airflow when he calls, resulting in a quieter sound. It works in much the same way as a belt worn around the waist.

Yes. The collar does not interfere with eating, breathing, or normal behaviours such as preening, dust bathing, cleaning or mating. However, you should ensure the rooster’s environment is free from objects that could snag the collar.
Yes. The collar is made from breathable mesh with Velcro fastening, designed to be worn with the soft side against the neck. It is hinged to allow full movement and flexibility, and most roosters adjust within a day.
After an initial adjustment period, gradually tighten the collar until it sits snugly around the neck. It should not pinch feathers, and you should be able to slip a finger comfortably under the collar. Check that your rooster is standing and breathing normally.
The collar won’t stop crowing altogether, but it significantly reduces both the volume and frequency of crows, making them more comparable to the noise level of a hen. Effectiveness may vary between roosters.
Yes. Some hens that attempt to crow have responded well when fitted with the collar.
Measure the circumference of your rooster’s neck under the feathers, close to the skin. Make sure there is at least 3.75 cm of overlap for the Velcro to attach securely. If unsure, choose the next size up.
Yes. The collar can be adjusted smaller within its size range, but it cannot be made larger than the listed size.
